Advanced Settings

All settings can now be modified directly in Clonk without having to make sure all Clonk instances have exited and edit configuration files or the registry. The dialog can be reached via “Advanced Settings” in the main options menu.

Some changes still require a game restart to come into effect.

Changing some settings may cause issues! This is also communicated to the player via a dialog when clicking the button in the main options menu.

Other features

  • Ctrl + F3 now toggles sounds on / off, just like F3 does for music.
  • All graphics troubleshooting options except for “Disable Gamma” have been removed from the graphics options as they’re almost never used and were meant for problem that haven’t existed in over a decade. Should someone still need them, they’re accessible via the Advanced Settings dialog.
  • Following a community poll, the default value for the cooldown for /sound is mnow 0, meaning that the cooldown is disabled by default. It can be changed in the advanced settings.
  • The used configuration of the audio device is now written to Clonk.log to facilitate debugging sound issues.
  • The configuration value Developer.ConsoleScriptStrictness has been added, which determines which strict level is used by /script and the script input fields in the console mode. The default value is MaxStrict, which uses the highest level present; other valid values are Strict1, Strict2, Strict3 and NonStrict.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug that caused high CPU usage.
  • Fixed crashes that occured some time after an object menu was opened.
  • If the Scenario.txt value Material is set to Earth-Rough or any other material-texture combination, the engine now does not place animals and nests in front of the sky anymore, if the scenario specifies that it has been written for at least engine version [359] (Version=4,9,10,15,359 or higher). If the version is lower, a warning is logged and the old behavior is kept for compatibility.
  • MP3-encoding audio files in MPEG Layer 1 / 2 files are now also loaded correctly if they start with an invalid frame as the engine now searches for the first vfalid frame.
  • The window size for console mode viewports on Windows is now saved correctly.
  • Fixed a race condition that caused missing sounds and inconsistencies in sound volumes.
  • Two channel stereo is now enforced in order to avoid problems with positional sound playback.
